Definition: The word “Kairos” is an ancient Greek word meaning the right or opportune moment (the supreme moment).

Everyone in their life gets these opportunities to step up and take advantage of the situation. Most of us can look back and reflect on what the outcome of their decisions during this situation. It could have been the job you took, the person you decided to marry, the business you did or didn’t start, etc.

The best description I have heard on the Kairos Moment is from my life long friend, Trent Walker. Trent described the Kairos Moment as the perfect moment in time where an individual’s will matches God’s will. As Humans, when we are open to the opportunities that present ourselves, greatness is sure to follow. Unfortunately, too many people think of a million reasons why they “can’t take a chance” on an opportunity that presents itself. Whether it is an opportunity to take an amazing trip, start a new business, reconnect with family or friends that your relationship has become broken, increase your life/work skills, we ALL have these opportunities. How do you react to the situation?

My journey in life has been all about maximizing my opportunities. From leaving P&G, where I was making a lot of money, to joining a start up making about nothing to meeting my wife after posting a ½ inch by 1 inch job opportunity. From all of the folks I wanted to work with to the great friends that I keep. My taking advantage of these opportunities have lead me to a full and happy life.

Life isn’t about the money or the toys that you take to the grave. It is about the relationships and experiences you are able to enjoy throughout your life. The people that you effect, the mark you leave on this earth. We live a short time on this Big Blue Marble, might as well take advantage of all of the opportunities that present themselves.
